September 18, 2008 The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) is eagerly awaiting the upcoming deadline to end animal testing established in 2004, when the European Union (EU) passed the seventh amendment of the Cosmetics Directive. This law sets a series of deadlines for animal testing bans and bans on the sale of cosmetics containing animal tested ingredients.

September 17, 2008 International cosmetic brand, L'Occitane, has recently been approved by the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments’ (ECEAE), a sister organization to the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ (CCIC). It will now join the over 200 companies sold in the United States and Canada that have already committed to eliminating all new animal testing from their products.

July 11, 2008 The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) commends New York Governor David Paterson for signing legislation requiring the use of validated non-animal alternatives for product testing into law. This legislation, sponsored by Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal, prohibits a manufacturer or contract testing facility from using an animal test method for which there is a validated alternative test method that has been recommended by the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM).
